LOS ANGELES – Loyola Law School, Los Angeles will celebrate the Installation of Fritz B. Burns Dean Michael Waterstone with a special edition of its annual Alumni Grand Reunion on its downtown LA campus on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, from 5-10 p.m.
Waterstone, Loyola’s 18th Dean, will formally accept his appointment as Dean with a ceremony scheduled to include prominent alumni and local leaders. The evening will be capped by a performance from legendary musician Don Felder, a former lead guitarist of The Eagles.
“I’m thrilled that my installation coincides with the year’s broadest gathering of our community. I am humbled to be sharing the evening with some of LA’s best and brightest,” said Waterstone, also a senior vice president at Loyola Marymount University. “The event officially marks a new chapter in Loyola’s history, and I am honored to lead this incredible school through the opportunities ahead.”
The Installation ceremony will include a video presentation featuring those with close connections to Waterstone, including alumnus George Fatheree ’07, partner, Skadden; alumnus Thomas V. Girardi ’64, founding partner, Girardi | Keese; Eve Hill, a disability-rights advocate; U.S. Magistrate Judge Steve Kim; LMU President Timothy Law Snyder; Gerard Quinn, director of the Centre for Disability Law, National University of Ireland Galway; and Waterstone’s wife, Julie Waterstone, director of the Children’s Rights Clinic, Southwestern Law School.

Waterstone also has taught at the University of Mississippi Law School, the University of Haifa and Northwestern’s Pritzker Law School. Prior to his academic appointments, Waterstone practiced law in Los Angeles at Munger, Tolles & Olson, LLP.
