LOS ANGELES –Loyola Marymount University ranks in the top fifth of elite national universities on U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 list of “Best Colleges,” earning its place among the six highest-ranked private colleges in California and the top five Jesuit universities in the country.
LMU claims the No. 66 spot on the list of nearly 400 institutions, appearing with Stanford, Caltech, USC, Pepperdine and Santa Clara in California; and with top-ranked Jesuit schools including Georgetown and Boston College.
It’s the second time LMU has appeared in the publication’s national rankings after several years as No. 3 among best regional universities in the West. Last year, the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education recognized LMU’s commitment to high-level research and its growth in doctoral degrees by designating it a high-research doctoral university. LMU offers doctorate degrees in educational leadership for social justice and juridical science at LMU’s Loyola Law School, in addition to its renowned J.D. program.
Several LMU business programs earned high ranks in the 2021 listings, including Analytics, No. 19; Entrepreneurship, No. 20; Marketing, No. 27; and Accounting, No. 32. U.S. News & World Report also ranked LMU No. 24 on the list of Academic Programs to Look for in Service Learning, No. 26 for Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs, No. 31 for Best Undergraduate Teaching, which reflects the faculty’s strong commitment to high-quality instruction, and No. 38 on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans.
The U.S. News & World Report ranking comes on the heels of a collection of high rankings on The Princeton Review’s newly released “Top 20 Colleges” lists, including Students Most Engaged in Community Service, No. 4; Best College Library, No. 7; Best Science Lab Facilities, No. 9; Most Beautiful Campus, No. 11; Happiest Students, No. 16; and Best Counseling Services, No. 18.
