SFTV’s Chair of Animation José García Moreno was interviewed by Animation Career Review — the site recently ranked SFTV’s Animation Program one of the top in the U.S., calling the school a “gem in animation education.” In this spotlight Q&A, Moreno discusses his work, education and applying universal knowledge to animation.

On February 9, 2013, J.J. Abrams came to the LMU campus to speak to film students. The creator/director/producer/writer of Lost, Felicity, Alias and, most recently, the next installment of Star Wars, showed clips and shared advice with a packed Mayer Theater. A Place at the Table opened in theaters this past weekend, but LMU SFTV will be screening the film on March 31, 2013 as part of The Steed Symposium, the film school’s annual industry event. This year’s theme is Game Changers—filmmakers, executives, and media that act as agents of social change. The program will include a case study with Participant Media executives that will cover how filmmakers can use their craft to impact social change and action, as well as ways to develop effective campaigns to pitch and market social issue films.
