The university is committed to providing an academic and work environment free from sexual and interpersonal misconduct. The federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) requires ongoing training for all students and employees regarding the prevention of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. In March of 2022, President Biden signed the reauthorization of VAWA and strengthened the federal requirement by requiring training every year.
Last fall, the VAWA training requirements, as well as California training requirements regarding sexual harassment, were satisfied by the discriminatory harassment training that all faculty and staff take every two years. This year, as part of its ongoing training and efforts to prevent sexual and interpersonal misconduct from occurring within the LMU community, all faculty and staff will be required to complete an online training titled “Building Supportive Communities: Clery Act and Title IX.” This 45-minute online course takes a close look at the issue of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking, in higher education.
Faculty and staff will receive an email regarding the training, as well as a notification in Workday. The training will also appear on your Workday Learning page. Please complete this training by Dec. 31, 2023.
Human Resources thanks you in advance for you cooperation and attention to this requirement.
