On or after January 1, 2023, follow the instructions below for Aetna to obtain the prescription from your doctor and refill your medication. NOTE: Be sure you have enough medication on hand during the transition period.
There are four ways you can transfer your maintenance prescriptions to Aetna:
- Online: Log in to aetna.com where you can order and track mail-order deliveries. You can also find information on medications, estimate costs and more.
- Phone: Use the phone number on your ID card to call Aetna, who will then call your doctor for all the required information. Be sure to let you doctor’s office know that Aetna will be calling.
- Mail: First, ask your doctor to write two prescriptions for your maintenance drug(s):
- A 30-day supply for you to fill at your local pharmacy to ensure you have enough medication during the transition period
- A 90-day supply (with three refills) for you to begin mail-order delivery through Aetna
Next, download and complete the Mail Service Order Form and mail it, along with your 90-day prescription, to Aetna at the return address noted on the form. Be sure to include information on your method of payment.
- Let your doctor take care of it: Your current doctor can help you arrange for CVS Caremark (a partner with Aetna) home delivery service:
- Online: Your doctor can submit your prescriptions using their e-prescribing service or by logging in to Aetna’s provider portal — availity.com.
- Fax: Your doctor can fax your prescription to (877) 270-3317. The cover sheet should include your member ID number, birthdate and mailing address. Note: Only your doctor can fax a prescription.
