Benefits Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, for eligible faculty and staff. This is your once-a-year opportunity to choose the benefits that are right for you (and your family) for the coming year. After Open Enrollment ends, mid-year changes are only allowed if you experience a Qualified Life Event (such as change in marital status, birth of a child, etc.).
What’s Changing for 2024
For the most part, your benefit plans are remaining the same next year. However, you’ll see a few changes and enhancements for 2024.
Medical Plan Contributions
The paycheck cost for Kaiser Permanente HMO will change for 2024. All other medical plans will remain the same. See the “2024 Contributions” table on page 2 of the 2024 mybenefits Open Enrollment Newsletter.
Anthem Blue Cross HealthSave Plan
Due to IRS mandates, the following will change:
- Annual deductible: It will increase to $3,200/individual, but the $5,400/family amount will remain the same.
- HSA annual maximum: Contribution maximums will increase to $4,150 for employee-only coverage and $8,300 for family coverage. (The catch-up contribution amount for individuals age 55 and older remains $1,000.)
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Health Care
- FSA annual maximum: The contribution maximum will increase to $3,050.
- Health Care FSA carry over: The amount you can roll over from 2023 into 2024 will increase to $610.
Commuter Benefits
Annual maximum contributions will increase:
- Mass transit/van pooling expenses account: You may submit a maximum transit order of up to $300/month, and a maximum commuter order up to $600/month.
- Parking expenses account: You may submit a maximum parking order of up to $300/month.
Anthem Blue Cross and UCLA Contract Negotiations
As shared last week, Anthem and UC Health are currently engaged in contract negotiations that may potentially impact coverage for HMO plans starting March 1, 2024. Both remain dedicated to achieving a comprehensive agreement by the end of this calendar year. You can read the announcement here.
