Program director and professor of special education Victoria Graf has been selected as a winner for the Alpha Sigma Nu 2021 Magis Medal.
Alpha Sigma Nu is the honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities, and the Magis Medal is awarded annually to Alpha Sigma Nu members who embody academia, loyalty, and service in their work to make a change in the world. The purpose of the Magis Medal is to commemorate members as they continue to sustain the Alpha Sigma Nu pledge and inspire new members to become innovators once they’ve completed their scholarly research.
Graf was one of three recipients of the Magis award this year. Mary McCullough, chair of the department of educational leadership at SOE, nominated Graf because of her dedication to working with students with disabilities, involvement with state and national organizations, and her role in creating one of the first inclusion educator preparation programs in the U.S. “Her enthusiasm inspires her students and colleagues to go out into the field and fight for the rights of people living on the margins,” says McCullough.
