Mondays can be a drag, but Monday NIGHTS, well, that’s another story. SFTV’s signature Monday Nights Series gives students and alumni access to advance screenings, Q&A’s and masterclasses with some of the most prestigious professionals working in the industry. During the Spring 2013 semester, we welcomed industry executives including writer/producer Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), alum/director Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), and just around the corner, LMU alum/writer/director Brian Helgeland will be screening his new film 42.
Now, LogLines gives you a front row seat to Monday Nights as we roll out clips from this past year’s events. Make sure to check our video section where we will regularly post highlights and videos. In the meantime, check out highlights of Jay Oliva’s visit, below.
Writer/director Ben Lewin screened and discussed his work on the critically-acclaimed film The Sessions. Q&A moderated by Professor Paul Chitlik.
On February 9, 2013, J.J. Abrams came to the LMU campus to speak to film students. The creator/director/producer/writer of Lost, Felicity, Alias and, most recently, the next installment of Star Wars, showed clips and shared advice with a packed Mayer Theater. LMU Magazine was on hand to cover the event. Read their piece below to find out the five key lessons he’s learned throughout his career.
As part of SFTV’s Monday Nights Series, we welcomed cinematographer Robert Yeoman for a screening of Moonrise Kingdom, followed by a Q&A moderated by Professor Richard Hadley. Check out the video of highlights from the evening’s discussion.
The five-week series showcases some of the finest documentaries, comedic, dramatic and animated shorts by students.
