This past November, students from different grade levels and majors came together for Startup Weekend 2017. They formed teams based on interest and skills and, with the help of coaches from different fields, created plans for viable businesses, all within 54 hours. All participants walked away from the competition with a business plan they could pursue and continue to work on after the weekend’s conclusion.

Loyola Marymount University’s engineering design center has undergone a substantial upgrade and was renamed to honor an alumnus of the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering. The Cheryl and Robert Gross Engineering Design Center, donated by Cheryl Gross and named for her late husband, Robert “Bob” Gross ’77, who earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering, was dedicated by President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., and Dean Tina Choe.
