Six Nobel Peace Prize Laureates came to campus as part of PeaceJam, a three-day conference held in 2008. Shirin Ebadi of Iran, Adolfo Perez Esquivel of Colombia, Rigoberta Menchu Tum of Guatemala, Jody Williams of Vermont, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa joined thousands of students and others for the event.
