Tom Plate, LMU professor of Asian and Asian American Studies, writes in the South China Morning Post that next week will see the start of his semester-long “Introduction to the Media and Politics of Asia” class. “A major theme of this course is that all media systems, in one way or the other, nurture political bias – some far more than others. This unhappy generalization applies to the U.S. media, of course, as well as others. This is not new: what is new is that on the major current issues of war and peace, the U.S. media’s overall performance may be more deficient than ever.”
