LMU’s Brett Hoover, professor of practical and pastoral theology, commented on the closing and merging of parishes in light of the Archdiocese of Detroit announcing a two-year restructuring plan. “It’s just a lot of grief,” Hoover said. He cited declining and changing populations in the Midwest and Northeast as large reasons for restructuring of parishes in those regions.
