Justin Levitt, professor at LMU Loyola Law School, commented on the timing of the Supreme Court’s Louisiana redistricting case. Levitt suggested the court is unlikely to rule before June, which would make it too late for states to redraw maps before the 2026 midterm elections. “It’s really hard for me to see a decision that does anything significant that wouldn’t occasion a major dissent, and it’s really hard for me to see that dissent not taking a fairly long time in the back-and-forth,” Levitt said.
