Rajika Shah, director of the Loyola Justice for Atrocities Clinic at LMU Loyola Law School, joined NPR’s All Things Considered to discuss the recent conviction of a former Syrian officer. This marks the first criminal trial in the United States of a former government official from the Assad regime, and only the second time an individual has been prosecuted under the U.S. universal jurisdiction statute relating to torture. Courthouse News Service and WORLD also covered the news.
