Fernando Guerra, director of LMU’s Center for the Study of Los Angeles, commented on Mayor Karen Bass’ 2026 State of the City address amid her reelection campaign and ahead of major city events, such as the FIFA World Cup in June. “She’s got to make people feel good in terms of some very directed action on homelessness, the rebuilding of the Palisades, public safety, the major issues that cities are responsible for,” said Guerra.
