Evelyn McDonnell, professor of journalism and new media at LMU, reflects on Joan Didion’s legacy on the eve of what would have been the Los Angeles-based writer’s 91st birthday. McDonnell notes that Didion’s love for the process of writing resonates with her and influences how she teaches her students. “Even though she was never formally a teacher, I feel she was a teacher to many of us and a mentor to countless writers.”
