Vanessa Diaz, associate professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o studies at LMU, shares with Rolling Stone the broader implications of Bad Bunny’s milestone achievement as the first Super Bowl halftime artist to perform entirely in Spanish. Diaz describes how Bad Bunny’s reach, influence, and advocacy for Puerto Rico will make for a historic performance during one of the most anticipated and viewed cultural moments of the year. Diaz was also featured on KTVU-SF (FOX) and BBC OS (starting at 46:42). Diaz teaches a course on Bad Bunny and Puerto Rico, and has co-authored a book titled “P FKN R: How Bad Bunny Became the Global Voice of Puerto Rican Resistance,” to be released in 2026.
