Los Angeles Daily News: Fernando Guerra, a political science professor and director of the Center for the Study of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University, sees the level of activity by special interest groups as a counter-response to the progressive movements of the past few years – namely by the Democratic Socialists of America, which since 2020 has gotten three of their candidates – Councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez and Hugo Soto-Martínez in addition to Raman – elected to the L.A. City Council.
