Michael Matsuda, executive-in-residence at LMU School of Education, co-authored this op-ed about reforming the A-G course sequence required for admission to the University of California and California State University systems. Matsuda encourages educators to help answer questions, such as, “what does rigorous learning look like when students apply knowledge outside the classroom? What can internships, research projects and other authentic demonstrations tell us about students’ readiness? How might A-G recognize and reinforce the broader vision of readiness California has already begun to embrace?”
