Layla Karst, associate professor of liturgical theology, commented on the expansion of lay liturgical preaching. “If synodality is a constitutive dimension of the Church, as Francis has claimed, this cannot only be reflected in the ways the Church conducts itself outside of liturgical celebrations. Our liturgies must also be genuine and authentic expressions of this synodal Church.”
