Justin Levitt, professor at LMU Loyola Law School, commented on how the Supreme Court’s approval of Texas’ new congressional map affects the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against California’s Proposition 50, approved in early November. Levitt said the DOJ’s case “has a bunch of new roadblocks in its way” following the Texas ruling. Responding to a social media exchange between Gov. Gavin Newsom and DOJ officials, Levitt added: “You can’t actually win a case through marketing. The courts aren’t doing TikTok.”
