CNN | He Moved to Mexico After Decades of Being Undocumented in the U.S. Then He Got a $1.8 Million Fine from DHS

Marissa Montes, professor at LMU Loyola Law School and director of the Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic, was featured in CNN’s coverage of DHS’s escalating fines against undocumented immigrants. Montes told CNN that despite providing proof that one of her clients self-deported, the government rejected the evidence and continued pursuing a $1.8 million penalty.
