Priscilla Ocen, professor of Law at LMU Loyola Law School and co-director of the Loyola Anti-Racism Center, wrote about racial prejudice in the death penalty system in California. The Office of the State Public Defender and several civil rights organizations filed a civil lawsuit against the state’s death penalty with the California Supreme Court, which was approved to move forward in the Sacramento Superior Court in May.
