
Science — A study co-authored by LMU biology Professor Wendy Binder and other researchers working at the La Brea Tar Pits found that large-scale fires possibly started by humans, in a drying, warming, and increasingly fire-prone ecosystem, may have caused the disappearance of saber-toothed cats, dire wolves, and other large mammals nearly 13,000 years ago.
