Karen Rapp, director of LMU’s Laband Art Gallery, and Glori Simmons, director of the USF’s Thacher Gallery, explain how they collaborated to bring the exhibition “Sonia Romero: Taken Root,” from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
“Through the process, we have had an opportunity to experience the unique ways each peer institution accomplishes their work and the possibilities when we bring together our strengths and highlight each other’s curatorial practice,” the directors explained in a co-written article. “For two directors in smaller galleries, this exchange has been a way to strengthen professional relationships and create a new collegiate community, built on the foundation of care.”
