Biography: Polina Durneva joined LMU as an assistant professor after serving as assistant professor of management information systems (MIS) at the University of Memphis from 2023 to 2025. She earned her Ph.D. in information systems and business analytics from Florida International University in 2023. Her research expertise centers on consumer health informatics, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and health IT management, employing mixed methods to examine how digital tools support self-management, improve patient care, and foster positive health outcomes. She has also contributed to emerging research domains, including virtual reality, blockchain, and management education.
Durneva has presented her work at leading national and international conferences and published in major health informatics and information systems journals. Her research approach bridges academic rigor with practical application, informed by industry experience at organizations including OGx Consulting, Pfizer, and Teacher Created Materials. This industry background enriches her ability to connect theoretical frameworks with real-world business challenges.
Durneva is passionate about teaching and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She has taught courses including business statistics, business machine learning, and web analytics. Her teaching is enriched by her industry experience, which allows her to bridge academic theory with practical application.
