Dear Lions,
Welcome to fall 2025 at Loyola Marymount University. Whether you’re new to the bluff or returning, you belong here as a vital part of this community.
Student Affairs is honored to champion your journey and walk alongside you as you shape your LMU story. At LMU, what you learn in class connects with what you do beyond it: clubs, service, and internships. You’ll practice weighing complex perspectives, caring for the whole person, and turning insight into action, becoming a more informed, thoughtful, and reflective leader.
Your LMU Journey This Fall
- Ready, Set, Roar: Welcome Weeks: From Aug. 25 to Sept. 15, Ready, Set, Roar programs help you connect, have fun, and settle in at LMU.
- Building Community: LMU is a welcoming community where small acts of kindness and meaningful relationships help build lasting connections that support and enrich your journey. You help build up our Lion community by creating connections with those around you, and it’s those relationships that can be your support and network.
- Get Involved: LMU offers numerous opportunities to participate, including student organizations, leadership development, and community service.
- Serve with Purpose: The Princeton Review recently ranked LMU high for student service. Explore Alternative Breaks and ongoing community partnerships, the Community Service Fair on Sept. 4, serve our L.A. community at ServeLA on Sept. 6.
- Care for Your Well-Being: Join Wellness Wednesday, use Campus Recreation, Student Psychological Services, and Student Health Services.
- Wellness Wednesday Swag Swap: On Aug. 27, bring gear from another college and trade it for an exclusive LMU basketball crewneck with me, women’s basketball Coach Aarika Hughes, and men’s basketball Coach Stan Johnson.
Living Our Values
We live the Lion’s Code, respect, responsibility, and empathy, in classrooms, residence halls, and our neighborhoods. As we head into Labor Day, please be a good neighbor beyond the bluff.
Save the date for the inaugural Longest Table on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m. in Sunken Garden (between Sacred Heart Chapel and Regent’s Terrace). This new event includes a shared “fusion” menu and conversation designed to build community and spark dialogue across differences.
