LMU Hospitality recently announced meal plan upgrades for the 2026-27 academic year. These changes will align LMU with the majority of other universities nationwide, implementing a traditional residential meal plan system to better support the LMU student body and to introduce enhanced programming and greater variety within LMU’s centerpiece dining facility, the Lair.
As first announced in February 2025, meal plans will transition to an All You Care to Eat model. All plans will consist of meal “swipes”, dining dollars, and meal exchanges, in order to bring greater value to students while maintaining flexibility in their dining options.
Starting in fall 2026, students will be able to change their meal plan via a new portal connected to their Lion Wallet (i.e., OneCard account). Beginning next year, students will also have the ability to update meal plans between semesters, rather than commit to one plan for the entire academic year.
“This initiative is the result of years of valuable feedback from students and parents who have consistently expressed a desire for a value-focused service,” shared Andy O’Reilly, vice president for Auxiliary and Business Services. “I’m pleased that this new approach to campus dining will improve the student experience and move away from the transactional feel of retail dining, to create a more engaging environment for our community.”
Beginning Feb. 5, 2026, current LMU students will be able to choose their meal plan for the fall 2026 semester, as part of the 2026-27 housing selection process. Plans include varied numbers of meal “swipes” per semester, along with a monetary value of Dining Dollars and a number of “meal exchanges,” which allow students to swap meal swipes at different locations across campus.
