The LGBT Student Services office hosts each February a variety of programs and events to celebrate pride at Loyola Marymount University. The week is filled with partnerships from departments and registered student organizations with various events, from movie nights to mocktails and painting sessions, a Warner Brothers Studios tour, and a Pridefest celebration with the Residence Hall Association (RHA). Rainbow Week kicked off this past weekend with a visit to Hamburger Mary’s and a tour of the Warner Brothers Studio.
Stuart Moskovitz, director of LGBT Student Services, said, “We celebrate Rainbow Week to provide a joyous and educational space for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Students helped create the week based on what they wanted to see, and they are excited to bring their vision to life.”
Partnerships throughout the weekend include registered student organizations such as Somewhere Under the Rainbow (SUR) that create a platform where students can chat and explore their identities within a safe space; the Queer Film Club to engage the community in films exploring queer identities; and RHA, the cornerstone of resident leadership for on-campus students, whose mission is to cultivate a vibrant living environment where every student feels at home.
