LMU’s Center for Ignatian Spirituality is offering all LMU faculty and staff the opportunity to take part in a weekend Ignatian retreat at Mary and Joseph Retreat Center in Palos Verdes, Friday, Feb.7 – Sunday, Feb. 9.
The weekend serves as an introduction to the Ignatian spiritual roots of LMU. The retreat includes presentations based on Ignatian themes and the Bible, time for quiet reflection and personal prayer, Mass, and opportunities for sharing in group settings. One-on-one personal spiritual conversations are also available if desired. The guides for the retreat are Dorian Llywelyn S.J., director of the Center for Ignatian Spirituality, and Kat Brown, director of Mission and Identity Programs.
While the retreat is rooted in the Catholic and Christian tradition, faculty and staff of all convictions and faith backgrounds are warmly welcomed, especially those who are new to retreats or Ignatian spirituality. Ali Mielczarek of Seaver College, a participant in last year’s Faculty and Staff Retreat describes it as “a truly transformative experience that I highly recommend to everyone at LMU, regardless of their faith background. Time spent away from daily life enabled participants to rest, recharge, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and with each other. This retreat was my favorite experience of the year.”
The retreat begins after dinner on Friday, Feb. 7 and ends with lunch on Sunday, Feb. 9. Accommodation is in individual, ensuite bedrooms, and all meals are provided. The retreat center has extensive outdoor grounds and is near parks and walking trails. All retreat costs are covered by the Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
Applications are now open here.
