Loyola Marymount University will begin replacing outdated signage at its Westchester campus entrances starting May 19, 2025, as part of a previously approved project aligning signage with the university’s visual identity. Originally scheduled to coincide with LMU’s new identity rollout several years ago, the project experienced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent supply-chain disruptions.
The new designs will address readability, consistency, and durability, while incorporating sustainable landscaping practices. Signage improvements will also reflect the way LMU community members interact with campus landmarks, ensuring signs remain both functional and appreciated as popular sites for photos and campus visits.
Updating signage following visual identity changes is standard best practice among universities, businesses, and other organizations. Current LMU entrance signs have significantly exceeded their expected lifespan (in some cases, by several decades) and require replacement due to wear and deterioration.
LMU Westchester Campus
Updates will begin at the LMU Drive entrance (Lincoln Boulevard), where signage on both the north and south walls, as well as the south monument, will be replaced. Enhancements include clearer presentation of LMU’s primary logo and full name, improved lighting for nighttime visibility, and drought-resistant landscaping to support sustainability goals.
The Loyola Boulevard and 80th Street private entrance will also see updated signage and landscaping, creating a clearer and more consistent campus boundary.
Playa Vista Campus & LMU Loyola Law School
Signage at LMU Playa Vista Campus will also be upgraded this summer, with LMU Loyola Law School to follow, consistent with LMU’s established visual identity system, which has developed significant equity and earned recognition from the university’s externally facing visibility campaigns. These updates will improve campus clarity, ease navigation, and enhance the experience of visitors and community members.
Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
