Kristin Moran, Ph.D., associate dean for faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego, will be fulfilling her ACE Fellowship at Loyola Marymount University beginning this month. The fellowship, administered by the American Council on Education, is a customized learning experience that immerses participants in the study and practice of leadership.

Moran is assigned to President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., as her mentor; John Parrish, Ph.D., chief of staff and vice president for institutional strategy, will be the primary facilitator for her fellowship.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Moran to our campus for her ACE Fellowship,” said Snyder. “As we engage this year’s challenges and opportunities, LMU will benefit from Dr. Moran’s experience, insight, and fresh perspective.”
Moran has taught in USD’s Communication Department since 1999 and her research focuses on Spanish-language media in the United States, Mexico and Spain, with special attention to the role media play in the identity development of children and adolescents.
The council describes the 55-year-old program as allowing participants to experience the culture, policies, and decision-making processes of another institution and bring those learnings back to their home campus. ACE fellows:
- observe and participate in key meetings and events and take on special projects and assignments while under the mentorship of a team of experienced campus or system leaders;
- participate in three multiday seminars, engage in team-based projects and case studies, visit other campuses, and attend national meetings;
- develop a network of higher education leaders across the U.S. and abroad.
“We at LMU are honored to be asked to host an ACE Fellowship,” said Parrish. “Dr. Moran is a thoughtful and committed partner in Catholic higher education who will not only grow from her time with us but will also be an asset to LMU’s institutional learning and decision-making this year.”
