The Ignatian Service Award and the Outstanding Teamwork Award were presented to community members who have made the campus better with their work.
Stuart Moskovitz, director of LGBT Student Services in Student Affairs, was awarded the Ignatian Service Award, which recognizes an exceptional commitment to the service of students, the university, and the community at large, in the spirit of the religious and moral legacy of St. Ignatius.
“I am honored to be recognized for this Ignatian Service award,” Moskovitz said. “Being part of a community through acts of service has grounded me in something bigger than myself, and knowing I have made an impact for the better makes me want to keep pouring into spaces that bring compassion and belonging to the forefront. The sense of Magis of, doing more, has grown my capacity for community involvement on and beyond the bluff.”
In Moskovitz’ nomination, it was noted that “Stuart is widely recognized as a safe and welcoming space for students, staff, and faculty alike. Their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community at LMU is truly immeasurable. They have not only created an inviting and supportive center for students but also took the initiative to revive the staff and faculty affinity space after it was lost during COVID. Their dedication has helped rebuild a sense of belonging and connection for so many across campus.”
The Outstanding Teamwork Award was given to University Events and recognizes and honors a team of staff (defined as three or more people) who have harmonized their efforts to the betterment of the LMU community with an emphasis on creative co-design, collaboration, and cross-departmental/divisional teamwork.
“University Events is honored to receive this year’s Outstanding Teamwork Award,” said Staci Asai, director of Conference and Events Services. “This is a testament to our team’s collaboration and dedication, ensuring every event at LMU, big or small, comes to life. Proud of this team every day.”
In nominating University Events, it was noted that “University Events is an extraordinary example of what a truly unified, high-performing team can accomplish. Comprising 19 dedicated professionals, this department is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of every event held at the university, ranging from routine classroom bookings to the most complex, high-profile institutional milestones. Simply put, every university event passes through the hands of University Events.”
The selected recipient of the 2025-26 Barbara Bonney Staff Member of the Year Award chose not to accept the recognition. Staff Senate respects their decision and looks forward to presenting the award next year.
