We continue to actively monitor the wildfire crisis, including changes in air quality, maintaining close communication with public officials and emergency services. As the crisis continues, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting those directly impacted and our community during these challenging times. - Current Air Quality: Air quality continues to improve significantly, with Saturday morning levels remaining at “Moderate” for all three LMU campuses as of 2 p.m. While we will continue to monitor air quality and act responsively, current levels continue trending toward better air quality.
- Burns Rec Center Pool Reopens: With the significant air quality improvements, the Burns Rec Center pool has reopened for outdoor recreation. Burns Rec maintains its standard operating hours this weekend for all indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Students: The spring semester will begin as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 13. If you have been directly impacted by the wildfires, please contact us at communityofcare@lmu.edu. Those impacted can also submit a vehicle storage request form for parking storage at UHall P3.
- Staff and Faculty: Please contact us at hr@lmu.edu or consult your supervisor if you are experiencing extenuating circumstances or require special accommodations. New resources: Anthem shares out-of-network care options, prescriptions assistance, options for replacing damaged medical equipment, and more; Kaiser Permanente shares virtual care information, prescription assistance, more. Those impacted can also submit a vehicle storage request form for parking storage at UHall P3. Health Advocate shares a list of emergency shelters available for affected residents, as well as mental health and support resources. See FAQs for more.
- Saturday’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Postponed: The LMU vs. Pepperdine basketball doubleheader scheduled for Jan. 11 at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu is postponed. A new date will be scheduled, and tickets will be honored. Please visit LMULions.com for additional updates as they become available.
