We continue to actively monitor the wildfire crisis, including maintaining close communication with public officials and emergency services, and supporting those directly impacted.
To assist our community, we share FAQs related to the ongoing wildfires and campus operations, which we will continue updating periodically.
- Current Air Quality: Air quality for LMU’s Westchester Campus continues to improve significantly: air quality warnings issued by the South Coast Air Quality Management District are currently set to end at 5 p.m. The AQI rating has dropped multiple times this week, currently downgraded to “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” with periods of “Moderate” throughout the day. While we will continue to monitor air quality and act responsively, current levels are trending toward better air quality. (AQI FAQs)
- American Red Cross: Leveraging the proximity of the LMU Westchester Campus to Los Angeles International Airport, LMU is hosting American Red Cross volunteers in Burns Back Court through Jan. 20 as they transition to their deployment assignment to support wildfire relief efforts.
- Students: The spring semester will begin as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 13. If you have been directly impacted by the fires or are affected by extenuating circumstances, please contact us (LMU Westchester Campus | LMU Loyola Law School Campus) for personalized assistance and support.
- Faculty and Staff: In-person schedules have resumed for all employees. New resources are available, including VSP Vision Care is offering no-cost eye care and replacement eyewear to VSP members. See FAQs for more resources.
