LMU`s alumni continue to inspire. Dr. Stanley L. Johnson Jr., M.A. `02, has worked to challenge the educational status quo and adress systemic inequalities. His journey at LMU SOE begain in 2000, when he enrolled in SOE`s Teach For America Partnership program. Now, as president of the LA County Board of Education and a senior project scientist for UCLA`s Center for the Transformation of Schools, Johnson continues to break down barriers through research and leadership. On the impact LMU has had on his work, Johnson says, "I believe that teaching is a calling that someone is drawn to by their core values—and in my case, that’s equity, access, and social justice. Chris comes to us from Bank Street College of Education in New York, where he was senior director of finance, operation, and analytics. He has had extensive experience in higher education finance and administration and has also taught financial management courses at NYU, Fordham University, and Columbia University.
