42: The True Story of an American Legend is currently in post-production and will be released on April 12, 2013. Written and directed by award-winning LMU alumnus Brian Helgeland ‘87, 42 tells the life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Third-year WPTV student Toni Bakal saw the trailer and said the film looks “incredible, amazing, epic.”
LACMA’s newest exhibition . . . Is James Bond (opened just this past weekend in the Art of the Americas Building) pays homage to the iconic opening sequences of all twenty-two James Bond films.
The mission of Creative World Awards is to discover and advance talented screenwriters. Finalists get first looks from sought after companies in the industry such as Lionsgate/Mandate International, Inferno Entertainment, Morgan Creek and others. A grand-prize winner will receive a production award–a produced short film version of their feature script, produced in conjunction with The Moving Image Xchange. The film will premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival, giving the writer an official imdb credit.

RECA Alum Alex Levy ’03 was credited with creating an innovative workflow for music editing at Bad Robot Productions in a recent issue of CineMontage, the journal of the Motion Pictures Editors Guild. Levy’s credits include the feature films Super 8 and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol as well as the television series Alcatraz, Lost and Alias.
