On March 1, Asian and Asian American Studies (AAAS) assistant professor Yanjie Wang hosted “Women’s Voices of Late Imperial China,” an evening of theater and music at LMU’s William H. Hannon Library. The event featured dramatic readings of women’s writings from late Imperial China, read by student actors from the Theatre Arts department. Organized by the library and co-sponsored by the Asian and Asian American Studies and Theatre Arts departments, the event offered a creative window into women’s experiences in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The event began with a special Ehru (Chinese two-string violin) performance by AAAS visiting assistant professor Charlotte D’Evelyn.
