The most exciting place to be on campus the evening of February 26 was definitely the Idea Pitch Competition organized by the Fred Kiesner Center for Entrepreneurship. What other event had a red carpet, free pizza and a live DJ? Attendees also had the opportunity to watch 12 contestants compete for prizes and bragging rights on who has the best new idea.
The evening was hosted by David Choi, Director of the LMU Entrepreneurship Program. Contestants – which included a mix of graduate and undergraduate students from all majors – had 90 seconds to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of judges. Several minutes of Q&A followed each pitch. The audience got to participate in the action by voting for their favorite idea which went to the actual winner of the competition, Willy Husted.
Here are the results:
First Place: Willy Husted (Computer Science) won first prize and a $1,000 check for his idea, Infinite Moments
Second Place: Jessica Kim (Entrepreneurship) won second place and a $500 check for her idea, Good Chew
Third Place: Tyler Williams (Marketing) won third place and a new Chromebook for her idea, Easy Hire
Fourth Place: Gabriel Blake (Entrepreneurship) won fourth place and an UP24 Jawbone for his idea, Live Culture
Congratulations to all the winners and contestants who participated in the competition!
