On Thursday, September 18, LMU Dance welcomed Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders Lily L., Eswinn D., and Miranda K. to campus for a spirited discussion that gave students a glimpse of what life is like in the Rams family—the “Ramily” as the cheerleaders and fans say.
LMU Dance chair Taryn Vander Hoop facilitated the panel Q&A, which covered topics including the dancers’ wide range of backgrounds, their two-week audition process, methods of training and conditioning, injury prevention, their practice and game day schedule, and finding balance in the pursuit of career goals.
The engagement builds upon a multi-year partnership between LMU and the Los Angeles Rams. In 2023, LMU became the Rams’ first-ever, exclusive higher education partner. Over the past couple years, students have benefited through internships, mentorships, and networking opportunities that span across various fields within the franchise.

“Our partnership with the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders reflects a common commitment to nurturing leaders in dance grounded in kindness and inclusive practice,” Vander Hoop says.
The dancers found common ground in the mission that drives them. Both programs emphasize community engagement and personal growth through movement. LMU Dance empowers students to harness dance as a tool for creativity, connection, and social impact through initiatives like Community Dance Project. Similarly, the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders extend their influence beyond the field by participating in outreach programs that embolden diverse communities across Los Angeles.
Last year, this became a joint effort when cheerleaders Tara S. and Kendra A., along with Rams mascot Rampage participated in LMU Special Games, an inclusive event celebrating athletes of all abilities.
As the partnership continues, rooted in shared values, LMU Dance and the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders will cultivate a culture of kindness, resilience, and community leadership that resonates far beyond the stage or stadium.
