Loyola Marymount University’s School of Education was again among the top-ranked schools in U.S. News & World Report’s latest edition of “Best Graduate Schools.” Rising four spots from last year, SOE is 70th out of the 356 graduate schools surveyed and more than 1,500 schools, colleges and departments of education nationwide. The SOE has climbed 61 positions since 2011.
The LMU School of Education is the third-highest ranked Jesuit institution, behind Boston College and Fordham University. LMU is the third-ranked independent school of education in California, behind Stanford and USC. Of the more than 80 education programs in California, LMU is ranked eighth.
“This is a great recognition for the education, research and collaborative partnerships that our school offers,” said Shane Martin, dean of the School of Education. “Seeing our school rise in these rankings is a testament to how much of an impact our faculty, staff, students and alumni are making in the educational community.”
The LMU School of Education was recently accepted as the newest member of the University Council for Educational Administration, the leading professional organization for top institutions with faculty and programs in educational leadership. SOE alumni have received recent recognition from Forbes, the United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
