The College of Communication and Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University will host the Korean musical group, Molgae (pronounced m?l-gay) on December 10th in Murphy Recital Hall at 8 pm.
The event, presented in partnership with the Korea Foundation, is free and open to the public.
Molgae is a group of traditional Korean musicians who will present various different styles of traditional Korean songs and instrumental numbers. Molgae is also well known for their “fusion” of Korean music with western instruments, such as the guitar, bass and saxophone.
The group has performed at the 2002 opening of the Korea-Japan World Cup and numerous international events including the Haus der Kulturen welt Berlin, the 2008 World Music Festival in Morocco, and the 15th International Ritual-Traditional Theater Festival in 2011 in Iran. This will be their debut performance in Los Angeles.
In an effort to build a stable framework to facilitate regular cultural exchange and cooperation, and to boost Korea as a reliable partner for cultural interaction, the Korea Foundation organizes and promotes a diverse variety of Korea-related cultural and artistic activities abroad, including performance and exhibition events.
