The big men have arrived on campus.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, LMU began hosting the Los Angeles Rams’ 2024 Training Camp on its Westchester campus. In preparation for the first pre-season game at SoFi Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys and filling the 53 roster spots, the NFL team will be practicing, training, and living on campus as LMU becomes their home away from home.
Last Wednesday’s start of training camp was a closed practice for Rams fans, before the first open practice day for the public on Thursday.
Fans wearing blue and gold filled the bleachers and white hospitality tents lining LMU’s Sullivan Field, which for the next two weeks will serve as a football practice facility. Rams mascot Rampage energized spectators in the bleachers who had turned out to watch their favorite players practice, while local media stood watch before an afternoon press conference.
LMU’s Smith Field has been transformed into a fan zone, while a Rams merchandise tent, food trucks and seating areas occupy Gersten’s Parking Lot B.
As an aspect of the LMU-Rams partnership, various opportunities are being explored to host Rams events, including training camp. These engagements provide opportunities for LMU students to benefit from access to the Rams organization, via dedicated internships and academic opportunities. The experience also promises national media exposure for the university during a key fan engagement period for the Rams, advancing the university’s strategic plan commitment to extend our reach beyond the bluff.
Through training camp, LMU will welcome thousands of visitors and fans to its beautiful campus, attract and retain prospective students, and engage donors, alumni, and friends. As an NFL camp host, LMU joins a select group of colleges and universities nationally to experience the excitement and energy of hosting a professional sports team.
