It’s that time of year when The Hollywood Reporter releases its annual review of the top 25 film schools that are shaping the future of cinema. This year, LMU School of Film and Television came in at number 8, moving up one spot from last year’s ranking.
The Hollywood Reporter said, “Perched on a bluff overlooking West L.A., Loyola Marymount School of Film and Television is muscling its way into Hollywood’s mindshare…Dean Ujlaki says his 12-to-1 student-teacher ratio – half that of some competing schools—is a key to the success of students like Hayley Foster, whose thesis film, Yamashita, won a 2014 Student Academy Award for animation. More than 400 LMU-sters have fanned out to major studios, Sundance, and other top employers. Says Ujlaki, ‘Alan Horn told our students, quoting John Lasseter, ‘Quality is the best business plan.’ We couldn’t agree more.”
