Senior Studio Arts major Simrah Farrukh takes gorgeous photos that put South Asian identity under the spotlight, with a particular focus on women’s issues in the region. Simrah was profiled and her work was featured in a recent article on Vice. In she talks about how she started out as an artist, her thought process when conceiving a new project, and what inspires her work.
“My work has always been based on women’s empowerment,” she said. “In the past, I focused on colorism and domestic violence. A lot of my work is regarding women.”
