In collaboration with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson and the California State Board of Education, the LMU School of Education brought together approximately 60 educators from across California in March for the Education Success Project Colloquium, a follow-up to the Education Success Project Symposium held in September 2012.
Through remarks by Supt. Torlakson and Dean Shane P. Martin, keynote presentations and panel discussions, the colloquium focused on collaboration, English language development, special education and blended learning within the framework of the Common Core State Standards.
The colloquium was the second step of a larger effort called the Education Success Project that is being led by Maureen Kindel, chair of the SOE Board of Visitors and a graduate of the LMU Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for Social Justice program. The Education Success Project brings people together to share stories of success in our PreK-12 public and public charter schools by fostering communication and collaboration among a variety of education stakeholders for the benefit of student learning.
