Margaret “Peg” Mary Dolan, RSHM will deliver the 2008 undergraduate commencement address to more than 1,200 students during Loyola Marymount University’s 96th annual ceremony on Saturday, May 10.
Sister Peg, as she is affectionately known, is a nun with the order of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. She has been a LMU Chaplain since 1974 and also served as a campus minister from 1974-1985, until she was appointed as director of Campus Ministry. She has touched hundreds of student’s lives and continues to be one of the most loved and respected members of the LMU community.
Through her service, she epitomizes the heart and soul of LMU’s mission and values. Sister Peg has touched the lives of alumni, friends and members of departments across campus and generations. Her dedication to alumni and her service to Campus Ministry grounded and forged her ministerial commitment.
She retired in 2006 after serving 33 years as a resident chaplain, but devotedly continues to fill her roles as LMU alumni chaplain, moderator of Gryphon Circle and retreat director. Sister Peg has spearheaded many programs that take LMU’s message into the community to help people and institutions in need.
More than 1,900 bachelor’s, master’s and law degrees will be awarded this spring during three separate ceremonies at LMU. In addition to undergraduate commencement, ceremonies for graduate students (May 11) and Loyola Law School students (May 18) also will take place in the Sunken Garden on the Westchester campus.
LMU commencement ceremonies are open to the public; tickets are not required. Up to 20,000 guests are expected for the undergraduate ceremony which begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. and lasts approximately 3.5 hours. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early as on-campus parking is free, but limited
