Building on the audience excitement from last year, a company of Loyola Marymount University players brought two Shakespeare plays to life this summer as part of the second annual Shakespeare on the Bluff Festival. “As You Like It,” the classic romantic comedy, was presented in June, followed in July by “Pericles,” considered Shakespeare’s most adventure-filled play.
The performers were comprised of professional actors as well as LMU alumni, faculty and current students, and each performance is free and open to the community. Audience members were invited to bring a picnic, lawn chairs, and enjoy a summer’s evening on LMU’s beautiful campus. Each production was performed at LMU’s Lawton Plaza and in our neighboring community of Playa Vista, with an estimated total audience of over 2,000.
The festival will return in summer 2020 with two more Shakespeare classics, “The Tempest” and “Henry V.” Be sure to stay tuned for those dates!
