Jackie Galvez’s passion is research in evolutionary biology – her goal is to become curator of a natural history museum. She’s well on her way.

As a summer intern for the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, she conducted research and learned collection management. That, together with the field work she did the previous summer as a National Science Foundation intern at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, rounded out her understanding of what a curator’s job is like. Experience as a TA and doing research with professors at LMU has prepared her for graduate school.
After graduation she’ll head to UC Berkeley, pursuing her Ph.D. in integrative biology, studying cichlid fish evolution.
