LMU School of Film and Television has announced season 7 of The Hollywood Masters, the school’s acclaimed interview series, hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Stephen Galloway and filmed by students and alumni before a live student audience on the LMU campus.
The season kicks off February 17 with director Zhang Yimou (Raise the Red Lantern and the upcoming The Great Wall). He’ll be followed by Oscar-nominated writer-director-producer Lee Daniels (Empire, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Precious), Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) and Roger Corman, the famed producer of more than 400 films (Death Race, The Little Shop of Horrors) whose protégés include Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola.
This season will also feature a special interview with Lansing, the former chairman of Paramount Pictures and producer of Fatal Attraction, and the subject of Galloway’s new biography Leading Lady, due out April 25. This will be the first public interview either of them will conduct in connection with the book.
“As SFTV nurtures and develops new talent and storytellers, it’s important that we provide our students with all perspectives of the industry. The Hollywood Masters has been an invaluable program in achieving this goal, and this semester’s slate of guests will offer a range of career insight,” said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the School of Film and Television.
“In putting together this season of interviews, I’ve aimed to give viewers a map of the best of world filmmaking,” said Galloway, the executive features editor of The Hollywood Reporter. “They don’t get better than this — from Zhang Yimou (one of my all-time favorite directors) to Sherry Lansing (one of my all-time favorite people) to a living legend (Corman) to two of the most brilliant talents in American film and TV today (Daniels and Chastain).”
Each of the 90-minute interviews will be shown exclusively on The Hollywood Reporter website, where the series has drawn a worldwide audience. The Hollywood Masters is open to LMU students, faculty and alumni only.
